SSRS Failure “sending mail: The message could not be sent to the SMTP server. The transport error code was 0x800ccc6e. The server response was 553 Requested action not taken: No MX record for this domain.”

Add header and footer http://mssqlcorruptiontackle.blogspot.com/2010/12/ssrs-report-adding-header-and-footer.html

I got my DBA scratching his head in front of following error in SSRS. He got the error while sending the mail.

SSRS Failure “sending mail: The message could not be sent to the SMTP server. The transport error code was 0x800ccc6e. The server response was 553 Requested action not taken: No MX record for this domain.”

What was missing was domain name in the email. Email addresse in the TO box of subscription, such as tuitionaffordable@tuition.com, has two parts. The part just before the @ sign is the local part of the address, often the username of the recipient (tuitionaffordable), while the part after the @ sign is a domain name to which the email message will be sent (gmail.com).

I would like the DBA also verify “role based security” verified for smooth run of SSRS report.
