Server name from @@SERVERNAME and sys.servers doesn’t match after the servername is changed.

Server name from @@SERVERNAME and sys.servers doesn’t match after the servername is changed.

The server name is changed as follows:

EXEC sp_dropserver ‘TuitionIT’;
GO
EXEC sp_addserver ‘Tuitionaffordable’, ‘local’;
GO

Now both the two queries will give different result

SELECT @@SERVERNAME AS ‘Server Name’ — old name

SELECT name FROM sys.servers — new name

To fix this you have to restart the sql server.
