I have my DBA really worried about running full backup. I asked him the reason and he told him that if he run the full backup then log chain will be broken.

The answer and suggestion to all DBAs is that Full backups do not break log chain. Full backups do not truncate the transaction log. Only log backups or switch to simple recovery model can cause the log chain broken. So go ahead with full backups without thinking log chain breaks.
Oh yes one more thing here. Full backups do reset the differential base if you are using differential backups.
